This is the dogs' den in the tent.
On the left are two red blankets which i throw over the dogs at night to help provide them some warmth or let them sleep on them, their choice.
On the right is the dogs' endtable, their stuff box, which is loaded with all kinds of stuff that would appeal to a dog or an unscroupulous DC lawyer. Moving clockwise from the top left position can be found a bowl of dog treats, a bowl of fresh water, some dog spray to help defend me against strong canine odors, two nylon dog bones for the dogs to chew on at will, and finally, a set of red (for erde) and black ( for leben) collarswith blinking lights so i can find the dogs in the dark. By the way, the dogs do not go clockwise or counterclockwise around the items. They go srraight for the treat bowl. The truth is that i rately allow any food in the tent in bear country, which we are in now. But wouldn't you know that tonight i made an exception and as i pen these words there is some heavyfooted animal prowling around my campsite just outside the tent. I think he or she just went away. A few minutes earlier some campers not too far away were banging pots and pans, one tactic to scare bears away. Thank goodness i have three dog bowls in the tent with me (see photo). Notice i said three dog bowls instead of two dogs. A sleeping dog is not a very good defense against bears.
