This blog is about my road-camping trip with my German shepherd dogs, Leben and Erde, from 19 Sept to 13 Oct 2012, which took us 3700 miles from DC to NY (and Beech Mountain), and then onto seven different provincial and national parks circling the Great Lakes. Just before Thunder Bay, Ontario, Leben became paralyzed, so we returned by way of Minnesota and then east to DC.

Day 6 - On our way to canada

Photo is of my old boy scout camp, now a forest preserve.

This is the first day i have internet or cell connections since Wednesday.

Stayed at mongaup Park for three days. Took a day hike to Beech Mountain, the site of my hold boy scout camp, now a wild forest. It was quite an experience. Leben did a great job of hiking the 5 mikes round trip over 6 hours, although going down hill on the way back he starting to fall so i supported him the rest of the hike with a sling. He's recovering from the hike faster than i am. He did not slow us down on the hike. See below photo of the dogs at Beech Mountain Hodge Pond.

Yesterday, i trained him in his canine all-terrain coach with the wheels. He loved it. Of course, it took a lot of treats, but he got in it right away.

Not a lot of time to blog this year yet. Lots of extra daily chores. But i'll be staying at camps for 2 or more days, so maybe they'll be time, but no internet.

We're off to Canada now and Charleston Provincial Parl. long drive ahead of us.
